45th birthday for markets

Wimborne Country Markets celebrated its 45th Anniversary at the Allendale Centre this month.

Originally known as the Women's Institute Market the first was held in 1919 although there was not one in Wimborne until 1940. This lasted until 1944 before being closed down.

It was restarted in 1964 and the name was changed a few years ago to Wimborne Country Markets. There are now over 400 such markets across
the country.

Wimborne Country Markets is held every Friday in the Allendale Centre.
