£5,000 more for skate facilities

Ringwood’s Skate Park has always been one of the most popular in the area and now, thanks to funding from the Town Council and a £1,000 grant from County Councillor Steve Rippon-Swaine, it has been improved with the addition of three new features.

Following consultation with a group of young people who regularly use the Park, the Council worked with local company Gravity Engineering to draw up options for additional equipment.  The preferred option comprises a driveway and ledge, grind block and grind rail.  This equipment has now been installed and, within minutes of the contractors leaving the site, was already being put to the test.

County Councillor Steve Rippon-Swaine said, “I am very pleased to have been able to support this enhancement of the Skate Park.  The additional equipment has been well received and is providing new challenges and experiences for the many young people who use this popular facility.”

The Council is now hoping to involve the Skate Park users in maintaining the equipment and in the design of a graffiti wall for the park, and will be working with Ringwood Police to facilitate this.
