Are you 16-25 years old and living in the Bournemouth, Poole or Christchurch area? If so, Dorset Wildlife Trust is offering you the chance to volunteer with them on beautiful Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour.
Young volunteers will spend the day learning about the surrounding environment and helping to protect the wildlife of the Island by taking part in conservation work.
Dorset Wildlife Trust manages just under half of the National Trust owned island as a nature reserve, including the internationally important lagoon, the pine woods that are home to Britain’s native red squirrel and the reed beds and alder carr – haven for water voles, kingfishers and water rails.
Amanda Broom, People and Wildlife Officer at Dorset Wildlife Trust, said: “Volunteer work is becoming increasingly important for young people, so don’t miss out on your chance to enhance your CV and stand out from the crowd! You will also be helping to protect the important habitats of this magical island for the future.”
The Brownsea Youth Volunteering Day is on Sunday, 21 February from 10am-3.30pm and, best of all, is completely FREE of charge, including lunch, refreshments and the boat to and from the island. All volunteers will receive a certificate to provide evidence of their hard work.
