Abacus, the Dorset based vehicle hire specialist, has launched its new Vehicle hire centre in Andover.
The family run firm purchased the former Trim Truk Ltd site on Andover’s Weyhill Road in May 2011 for a figure exceeding £1 million and has now completed a £200,000 refit.
Managing Director Dave Wolfenden, who launched Abacus in 1985 with his wife Jane, was joined at the ribbon cutting ceremony by his daughter Sophie and sons Tom and Toby, confirmed that the car, van, truck, mini bus and motorhome hire service hopes to mirror the success achieved by their Ferndown hire centre.
“We are delighted to expand our services into Hampshire and now be open for business,” said Dave Wolfenden. “4 new jobs have been created to manage the hire of an initial fleet of 150 cars, vans, trucks, minibuses and motorhomes with more employment opportunities to come.”
There is further room for expansion as the neighbouring land, formerly owned by Shell UK, has more recently been acquired by the company for an undisclosed sum.
From Dorset, Abacus and its sister company Horton Commercials employs a team of 33 to provide a full range of vehicle hire with a current fleet of 500 vehicles, also specialist vehicle servicing, bodybuilding and repair facilities. In 2006 the company launched its motorhome hire division and opened a dedicated motorhome centre last year after expanding its premises.
