The annual commemorative service at the New Forest Airfields Memorial, Holmsley South takes place this Sunday, 28 June, the day after Armed Forces Day.
The service, arranged by the Friends of the New Forest Airfields, commemorates the role of all those, military and civilian alike, who served on the New Forest Airfields. Veterans will be in attendance and will parade their Associations’ standards.
Everyone is welcome.
Many nations served on the New Forest Airfields, not just the British but also Australians, Canadians, New Zealanders, Americans, Russians, Poles, Norwegians, Czechs and Slovaks. British units were not just from the RAF but also from the Fleet Air Arm and the Army especially the Glider Pilot Regiment and the Airborne Forces.
The New Forest Airfields’ Memorial is on Black Lane, off Forest Road at Holmsley South, just off the A35 between Christchurch and Lyndhurst.
