Forty five people took the opportunity to get fitter by turning up to the start of a health walk led by the Christchurch Strollers.
The route was up Bridge Street and through to the Priory then to Christchurch Quay and along to the Captain's Club and back again.
Marion Slade, one of the Stroller organisers, said: "This is a very new scheme for health and fitness in Christchurch. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise and we hope to encourage more people to go walking with these walks of around 45 minutes. We've had a really brilliant take-up, so it shows there is an appetite for people to take this form of exercise for their health and for the social interaction."
People wanting to find out more can visit the Fit Christchurch launch day at Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre on 29 March when there will be a health walk at 2pm.
Further walks are planned for 1 April at 10am meeting in Saxon Square and 8 April at 10am meeting in front of the Civic Offices.
There is no need to book on any of the walks, just turn up.
