After six years absence the Scout Group at Alderholt has made its first move towards coming back to the village.
In 2004 the group had to make the very difficult decision to close its doors after losing its meeting hall at The Old School. Despite many attempts it had proved impossible to find alternative accommodation.
Since then it has been a driving ambition of Sheenagh Bradford, East Dorset ADC Beaver Scouts and former GSL and Beaver leader at Alderholt, to get the group up and running again. Yesterday (23 March), with the assistance of East Dorset District Commissioner, Mike Hodge, members of the County Development Team and other local leaders, the new Beaver Scouts met for the first time, at St James’ Church Hall to enjoy an evening of fun and games.
It is hoped that this positive first step will soon see other sections available to more young people in the village.
