On Monday at 10am, North Dorset MP, Robert Walter will join with North Dorset District Council Chairman, Cllr Colin Kay, to help ‘Fly A Flag For Our Armed Forces’ as part of the run up to Armed Forces Day on 27 June.
North Dorset District Council is one of hundreds of local authorities, businesses and ordinary homes across the UK that will be raising a specially designed ‘Armed Forces Day’ flag in honour of our dedicated servicemen and woman.
Bob Walter MP was delighted to accept the invitation to take part in the raising of the flag ceremony at Norden, pledging his whole-hearted support for this new annual event. The new flag, based on the Union Jack design, will be flown simultaneously across the UK at 10.30am.

Bob said, “I am honoured to accept the invitation of District Council Chairman Colin Kay to take part in this ceremony in recognition of the hard work, dedication and sacrifice of our service men and women past, present and future.
“Such acts of recognition are especially important to me as an MP whose constituency encompasses Blandford Army Camp; one that has campaigned consistently for the rights of Gurkha veterans; and as a representative of the United Kingdom Parliament at the European Security and Defence Assembly.
“I am a firm believer in upholding the Military Covenant and our responsibility, both in government and society, to support and protect members of our Armed Forces and their loved ones as they continue to serve us all now and in the future.
“We really do owe our service personnel, whether serving at home or abroad, an enormous debt of gratitude. That’s why I’m giving this new day of recognition my full support, and I look forward to ‘Flying a Flag For Our Armed Forces’ on Monday”.
