Bras give Air Ambulance a lift

Women across Dorset are being asked to use their unwanted bras to support the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance next week.

The charity’s annual Bag a Bra week runs from 21 to 27 June and this year is also being backed by AFC Bournemouth football legend Steve Fletcher.

Unwanted bras can be taken during the week to special donation bins located outside the stores of Marks and Spencer, Asda, and Sainsbury’s, at Castlepoint Shopping Park, Bournemouth.

Bras of any colour, size, and quality will be accepted, and at the end of the week, the bras will be collected and weighed by the Air Ambulance’s recycling partner, Bag It Up, to provide valuable funds for the charity.

DSAA fund raising coordinator Annette Plaistow-Trapaud said, “We have a tremendous relationship with Castlepoint and over the last two and a half years, they have helped generate nearly £30,000 for our charity.

Last year, we collected just over 8,100 bras during the week and we increased the awareness of the Air Ambulance service during the campaign.”

Steve Fletcher said: “I live in Bournemouth and see the charity’s fund-raising activities on a regular basis at Castlepoint, so I was only too pleased to get involved.

I am also asking the AFC Bournemouth players to make sure they spread the word to their wives and girlfriends to donate their bras during the week.”
