Cars4Hours has been launched by Leonard Cheshire Disability in Poole to encourage more people to become carers by joining the charity’s Dorset Care at Home scheme.
A blue five-door Toyota Aygo will be offered to new and existing care staff at a subsidised rate; the more hours a week they spend caring, the cheaper their cars become.
The brand new car is also available for private use and full insurance and AA cover is included. All servicing and running costs will be paid and managed by LeasePlan UK, who have partnered with the charity for two pilot schemes in Sheffield, and Poole, Dorset.
Leonard Cheshire Disability’s Care at Home service is a lifeline to thousands of disabled and older people living in their own homes providing support ranging from meal preparation to shopping. Personal care can also involve help with dressing or getting out of bed.
The charity also provides support to people through helping with social activities such as accompanying them to day centres.
