Celebrating volunteering in the New Forest

To recognise the value of voluntary organisations throughout the New Forest, nominations are being invited for a 'Celebrate Volunteering' event to be held in November. The event was to have taken place last month, but had to be moved due to funding issues.

Organised by volunteers Community First New Forest, voluntary organisations throughout the New Forest are being encouraged to nominate themselves and up to five of their committed volunteers, who they feel in their opinion should receive a certificate and represent them. The closing date for nominations is 30 September 2010. All nominations received already will be carried forward to the re-arranged date.

Speaking about the evening, Hazel Dyson, New Forest Volunteer Centre Co-ordinator at Community First New Forest says, “This very special event recognises the value of voluntary organisations and their volunteers across the New Forest. It’s our chance each year to publicly say a really big thank you to our ‘unsung heroes’ in the community for the wonderful work they do.”
