Police are appealing for witnesses and information after an incident of criminal damage near Verwood, which officers say could have resulted in a serious or fatal road traffic collision.
On Thursday 11 June, at 11.30pm, at the junction of Potterne Way and Verwood Road, a group of teenagers were seen by passing motorists to throw two roadwork signs into the road.
One vehicle suffered serious damage to the fuel pipe which resulted in the loss of a large amount of fuel.
Several other vehicles were also seen to collide with the signs.
Potterne and Three Legged Cross Safer Neighbourhood team are appealing to people who may have information that could help police locate the offenders.
Police Community Support Officer Lou Hamilton said: “These teenagers must be made aware of the serious consequences of their childish prank, which could have resulted in a serious or even fatal road traffic collision.
“Their behaviour has endangered people’s lives, and I am determined to bring those responsible to justice.”
