CLUKS have wheels to travel coast to coast

Abacus, the Dorset based vehicle hire company, is to provide one of their luxury 5-berth motor homes as transport and accommodation for the Childhood Leukaemia UK Swim Challenge (CLUKS) members.

Between the 6–15 August, Dave Moore and his children Kristi, Cian and Tavis with Vickie Palmer, will travel clockwise around the UK coast from Bournemouth, stopping to swim a mile at four public swimming pools each day. The motor home will be driven by Nigel Curtis.

On the last day the crew will cycle a distance of 16 miles between five local pools and each crew member will swim one mile.
The challenge in total will cover 2000 miles of travel and over 160 miles of swimming.

In 2007 CLUKS raised £11,700 on a similar challenge travelling anti-clockwise around the country.

“With the generous help from sponsors including Abacus and Sandy Balls holiday centre, and the support of leisure centres and public pools around the UK, we hope to exceed our challenge total from two years ago,” said Dave Moore.

Tom Wolfenden, Rental Negotiator at Abacus, said that they were delighted to support the team for the second time as the funds raised will go to Children with Leukaemia Society to help towards research and support for children and their families.

Anyone wishing to sponsor the CLUKS challenge can call Dave Moore on 01202 671703 or 01202 436885.
