Cosmetic surgery fends off firework attacks

A postbox in Moordown, Bournemouth which has been persistently targeted by firework attacks has undergone cosmetic surgery.  Known as an aperture restriction plate, it prevents bulky items of mail being posted. These items now have to be taken to the nearest post office at 893 Wimborne Road, Moordown or 391 Wimborne Road, Winton.

John Pegg, Collection and Network Support Manager for the Post Office said, “We regret any inconvenience this may cause to customers but we do hope you will understand the reasons why we have made this decision.  The restrictor plate will be removed as soon as we feel that any risk to items posted in this postbox has passed.”
