Following an Extraordinary General Meeting, Verwood Arts and Leisure Amenities (VALA) has agreed to transfer the management responsibilities for leisure facilities in Verwood to East Dorset District Council.
Sports and leisure facilities at Verwood Hub, Verwood Community Sports Hall and Potterne Park will now be managed directly by the council.
Christchurch and East Dorset Councils have been carrying out a review of all of their leisure services with a view to bringing together the management of facilities at Queen Elizabeth Leisure Centre in Wimborne and Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre in Christchurch under a single management structure and with a common standard of service and single brand. The Verwood facilities will now also become part of that review.
Paul Rutter, Leisure Services Partnership Manager at the Christchurch and East Dorset Partnership, said: “Although we’ve taken over the management of the Verwood facilities, it’s business as usual and customers shouldn’t notice the change.
“Over the coming months we’ll be reviewing all of our leisure services and taking advantage of the benefits that can come from having facilities in Christchurch, Wimborne and Verwood being managed together.”
