Do not approach dangerous man

Police are appealing to the public for help in finding a dangerous man who has gone missing from a treatment centre in Weymouth.

Officers are waning people not to approach James Robertson Rennie, aged 31, who was reported missing at 12.24pm on Thursday, 24 June.
 
Rennie is described as white, five feet nine inches tall, of medium build and with reddish hair.
 
The 31-year-old was at a treatment centre in Weymouth, having been released from prison on licence after being given a nine year prison sentence for burglary, attempted burglary and robbery against elderly people.
 
Detective Inspector Guy Shimmons of Dorset Police said: “Rennie is a dangerous man and because he poses a threat to the public due to the crimes he has committed, he must be caught as a matter of urgency.
 
“I am appealing for the public’s help in trying to find Rennie and anyone who sees the 31-year-old should not approach him but immediately call the police by dialling 999.
 
“While Rennie may still be in Dorset, he has links to the Brighton area of Sussex as well as the London area and is believed to have family in Scotland.
 
“We have been making extensive enquiries and Rennie’s description has been broadcast to police officers across Dorset. Police forces nationwide have also been notified of his disappearance.
 
“The terms of Rennie’s release from prison on licence are that he permanently lives at the treatment centre in Weymouth so in leaving the premises and breaching his prison licence, he has to be arrested,” explained Detective Inspector Shimmons.
 
Anyone who sees James Robertson Rennie should not approach him but call Dorset Police immediately by dialling 999 which is the same number for anyone with information about his whereabouts since he went missing.
