Police in Bridport carried out search warrants for drugs at three properties in the town centre in response to information from members of the public.
The operation took place this morning, Friday 15 May 2009.
Four people - aged between 20 and 30 years old - were arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A and Class B drugs. They are being questioned at Weymouth police station and the seized drugs are being analysed.
Police officers from Bridport - together with specialist officers with property entry skills, a drugs sniffer dog and search teams from other parts of Dorset Police - took part in the targeted and intelligence-led operation.
Inspector Alan Jenkins, of Bridport police, said: "The operation was part of our on-going drive to target alleged drug dealing and its alleged related crime in Bridport town centre.
"We are determined to keep Bridport one of the safest towns in the country.
"I would appeal to anyone with information about alleged drugs activity to contact Dorset Police in confidence or the Crimestoppers line anonymously," explained Inspector Jenkins.
Anyone with information about drugs should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01305 222 222 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
