Police are repeating their appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward in confidence after a teacher was killed when her car collided with a petrol tanker between Wimborne and Sturminster Marshall.
The incident between a silver coloured Vauxhall Corsa car and a white Scania petrol tanker happened at Mill Street – the junction of the A31 near the Coventry Arms pub and the B3074 road to Corfe Mullen at 7.50pm on Thursday 12 November 2009.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or the car or tanker being driven prior to the collision.
The driver of the car – 70-year old teacher Wendy Rumbold of central Bournemouth – sadly died of multiple injuries at the scene of the collision.
The tanker driver – a 44-year-old man from Newport in South Wales – was shocked but uninjured.
The A31 at the scene of the collision was closed for several hours while it was examined by police investigators.
