Fatal motorcycle collision – family pays tribute

The grieving family of a Weymouth man killed after his motorcycle left the road in Chickerell and collided with a tree have paid a moving tribute to the 48-year-old rider.

Father of four, Rob Evans died after the accident on the Granby Way at around 7.45pm on Tuesday 12 May. He was riding a red Kawasaki motorcycle.

Mr Evans lived in the Westham area and worked as a heavy goods vehicle driver.

His parents, Babs and Terry from Dorchester said, “Rob was a wonderful son and he was the love of our lives.”

The children of Mr Evans – Chad, Josh, Jed and India – added: “Rob was more than a father – he was our best mate and a fun-loving person who lived life to the full.

“He will be sadly missed by his loved ones and his family – including his grand-daughter, three and a half year old Lily. Sadly, Rob has not lived to see the impending birth of his second grandchild.

“We would like to express our special thanks to all the friends and well-wishers who have shown their support through our sad times.

“Rob will never be forgotten and he will be forever young,” they added.

Mr Evans’ partner, Caroline, said: “Rob was my special friend and light of my life – the man that never really grew up.

“He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered as a great partner, soul mate and special family member.”

Officers from the Dorchester Traffic Department of Dorset Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision – or Mr Evans riding his red Kawasaki motorcycle prior to the collision – to contact them in confidence as soon as possible.  Either call Dorset Police in confidence on 01305 222 222 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
