Federation of Small Businesses supports mayor’s charities

A donation from the Christchurch branch of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has benefited the mayor of Christchurch’s nominated charities.

A cheque for £800 was presented by chairman of the Christchurch FSB,

Bill Dedman.  It was the proceeds of the annual barbecue held by the FSB.

Mr Dedman said: “The Captains Club Hotel, where our annual charity event was held, kindly donated a trip in their motor yacht out into the Solent to watch the sunset. The FSB added some champagne and canapés and we auctioned the trip as our ‘star prize’ of the evening. As a result two of our members got locked into a bidding war which added considerably to the superb total that we managed to raise. Our sincere thanks to all concerned.”

Accepting the cheque, the mayor said: “This is an excellent sum to be raised by such a small number of people. The FSB has always been a keen supporter of the mayor’s charities and long may it continue.”
