Councillor Christine Ford has made history in Ringwood after being elected the first lady mayor of the town. She is also the first female chairman of Ringwood Town Council since it was founded in 1974.
The historic event took place at the annual council meeting on 6 May 2009.
On being elected, Councillor Ford said, “I would like to thank all councillors for the great honour that they have bestowed on me and pay tribute to the retiring mayor, Councillor Brian Terry and his wife Cllr Jacqui Terry for their marvellous work over the past two years.”
Councillor Brian Terry was elected deputy town mayor.
