First lady rector installed at Wimborne Minster

The Minster Church of St Cuthburga celebrated the installation of the first woman rector at the Minster in Wimborne last night.

The institution of Revd Vanessa Herrick by Rt Revd Nicholas Holtam, Bishop of Salisbury was followed by the installation and induction by the Ven Stephen Waine, Archdeacon of Dorset.

Around 400 people attended the service including the Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset Mrs Anthony Pitt-Rivers, bishops from as far away as the Sudan, clergy from the rector's former parish of Ely and the Mayor of Wimborne.
