A heart attack victim in his 70s was airlifted by a Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance crew who by chance happened to be flying near his home on Friday, 27 November.
The air ambulance helicopter was able to quickly land in a neighbour’s garden in Hazelbury Bryan, near Sturminster Newton, Dorset, within 11 minutes.
Paramedics treated the pensioner before he was airlifted to the Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester, in just six minutes.
Air ambulance pilot Max Hoskins said: “We were already in flight but were stood down from previous job and on our way back to base in Henstridge.
“When the call came in we were able to be first on the scene and we landed in somebody’s back garden.”
The mission took 55 minutes from receiving the call at 8.44am to landing at the hospital at 9.39am.
