Publicans in Ferndown have joined forces with East Dorset District Council and Dorset Police to help keep their licensed premises safe and sociable.
The Ferndown Licensees Action Group (FLAG) was launched yesterday at The Angel public house in Longham. FLAG is a pubwatch-style scheme which will help curb underage drinking, anti-social behaviour and improve safety for customers and staff.
In conjunction with the police and district council, members of FLAG will share information on problem individuals or groups at regular meetings. The partnership will also be looking at a number of initiatives to continue to prevent crime and disorder. One way of doing this is by introducing a ‘banned from one, banned from all’ policy, which would mean that when one member decides that a person or group should be banned from premises, all pubs involved in the scheme can refuse entry.
The group will also discuss ways in which they can promote their businesses within the town as enjoyable venues.
The Group will meet on a quarterly basis to exchange information and ideas.
