Get wild for your Valentine

Dorset Wildlife Trust is asking nature enthusiasts to become true ‘wildlife lovers’ in 2012 by spreading a little wild love this Valentine’s Day.

When a box of chocolates and a bunch of roses just won’t do for your special someone, you can now adopt a fluffy red squirrel or an adorable dormouse for a very special Valentine’s gift.

Membership Administrators Elaine King and Debra Keen at Dorset Wildlife Trust would like nothing better for their Valentine’s Day surprise. Elaine said, “Wildlife adoptions are a fantastic idea if you want to give something a bit different from flowers or chocolate. It is also a great way to ensure a future for Dorset‘s beautiful wildlife. Not only will your loved one get a thoughtful gift, you will be supporting local wildlife too.”

Debra added, “You can choose from a Brownsea Island red squirrel or a Dorset dormouse, and included in your adoption pack you get all sorts of goodies like cuddly toys and books, as well as a personalised certificate. It is hard to choose, but I can’t imagine any wildlife lover not enjoying one of our adoptions for Valentines!”

Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Wildlife Adoptions are ideal for a quirky gift for your special wildlife lover, as not only do you get a personalised adoption certificate, you will also get a gift pack with choice of goodies such as cuddly toys, mouse mats, books and stationery, plus a photo of your chosen adopted creature. Wildlife adoptions allow Dorset Wildlife Trust to further its conservation work in protecting these rare species by managing habitats like Brownsea Island, increasing public awareness and putting up dormice boxes to learn more about their habitat preferences.

Red squirrel adoptions, which are supported by John Lewis Partnership, can be bought at £18 for a year (to include a cuddly squirrel), and dormice adoptions are £15 for the year.
