Christchurch Council has welcomed the news that, by working in partnership with Dorset County Council, bus services will continue on routes which have been axed by Wilts & Dorset Buses from 24 May.
Michael Turvey, Chief Executive of Christchurch Council, said: “We have worked with Dorset County Council to add our local knowledge to the discussions over the best way to continue these services, which will replace Wilts & Dorset’s discontinued services on the C1/C2 route and the X12 route to Burton.
“This is one of the best examples of Dorset County Council coming in and working with us to solve a local issue. It shows what can be accomplished when two councils work together and we’re very pleased to have helped achieve this solution.
“These services will be run by Shamrock Buses on the C1/C2 route and Transdev Yellow Buses on the Burton X12 route which now be a 21 service. They have been put in place at short notice to make sure our residents are not isolated. Over the next three months we will be looking at what will be taking place in the long term to make sure that we get a proper service for our residents.”
