Thirty officers from Christchurch Council’s Civic Offices and Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre joined Chief Executive Michael Turvey in cycling to work on Bike to Work Day.
It is estimated that 36,691.20g of CO2 emissions were saved by their efforts or, in more practical terms, 8 days’ worth of CO2 emissions from an average family car.
Michael Turvey said: “Many of our employees cycle to work on a daily basis anyway but it was good to see more people joining in for Bike to Work Day. It’s important to encourage everyone to cycle to work particularly as we are investing in new and safer cycle routes. There are also significant health benefits to cycling.”
