Help save Hengistbury Centre

Following the announcement by Bournemouth Borough Council that the running of the Hengistbury Centre would be put out to tender, a Community Interest Company has been formed to save it from being handed over to a commercial enterprise.  The Community Interest Company is preparing a tender to secure the future of the Centre, which is at Hengisbury Head, for local people to use.

The company is offering:
•    Lower running costs
•    Lower capital costs
•    Quality leadership and first class, qualified instructors
•    Impeccable partner support with businesses, voluntary sector professionals
•    Same course structure, affordable to schools and individuals
•    No future running costs for the council saving £1M in the first five years
•    The opportunity to provide a legacy for generations to come

The tender documents have to be handed into Bournemouth Borough Council by 24 July and have to be supported with letters from members of the public.  The council should receive these letters no later than 14 July.

Please write urgently to Pam Donellan, Chief Executive, Bournemoouth Borough Council, Town Hall, Bournemouth, BH2 6DY.
