Heroes’ birthday surprise
Kind hearted Verwood (Apollo) Cub Scout, Daniel Smith, decided to ask his friends for something different for his 8th birthday. Coming, as it did, just after Christmas, he thought he had enough toys and didn’t need any more. So, after chatting it over with his Mum, he asked all his friends to give him money for Help for Heroes instead of presents so that he could help people who had fought in Afghanistan.
Daniel’s Cub Leader, Tracy Bryson, said, “We are so proud of Daniel for doing this. It was all his own idea and it shows just how much one Young Person can achieve to help others.”
Daniel’s birthday surprise for the fund amounted to £135.
