Police in Poole are appealing for witnesses and a van driver to come forward after a 10-year-old boy was knocked off his bicycle by a car in the Rossmore area of the town – with the car driving off.
The incident happened at approximately 3.30pm last Thursday, 10 September. The boy was cycling home along the pavement on Rossmore Road in Poole, near to the Tavern Pub, when a car mounted the kerb and knocked him off his bike.
The vehicle – possibly a black Land Rover – was understood to have been driven by a woman. It stopped briefly at the scene before driving off.
The boy sustained a broken elbow in the incident.
Police Constable Peter Simpson, of Poole police, said: “The young victim tells me that a man driving a white van stopped to help him and I need to hear from this man as he is likely to have information which will help my enquiry.
“The incident took place at a busy time of day on a busy road in Poole and I need anyone who was in the area and saw the incident, or anyone with any information to contact me urgently.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01202 or 01305 22 22 22 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
