Horsewatch is being re-launched in Wimborne . As a result, an event is being held in order to recruit members at the Wimborne Show, Higher Merley Lane, Ashington on Sunday 26 July 2009.
Horsewatch is a network of information and support and aims to reduce the risks of equestrian related crime.
Members receive notification of any suspicious activity in the area in which they live. Members can also feed the horse community any valuable information that they may have.
PC Jane Brittain said: ”We are re-launching Horsewatch across Dorset and hope to establish a network of local liason officers. We really want to make the area as safe as possible for the equestrian community and this is one way of doing so.
“The scheme advises members that join on anything that they may find useful relating to the safe keeping of their horses and possessions.
“Please come and join us at either of the launches over the next two weekends where we will be handing out equine related advice and security marking possessions using UV pens and the new Selecta DNA”
