There’s no need to go all the way to Siberia this winter when you can simply go to the scenic Somerley Estate for your Nordic adventures and ‘Hug a Husky’ courtesy of local charity, The Wessex Autistic Society . Part of the Christchurch based charity’s annual Somerley 5k and 10k run event, being held 3 January 2010, the huskies will be available to receive lots of hugs from spectators and competitors alike.
Over 800 runners are attracted to this well established event which celebrates its 9th annual run on 3 January 2010.
Pre Entries are now closed but there is still an opportunity to enter on the day from 10am. There is an opportunity to run as an individual or as part of a team. On the day entry: UKA member £10, non UKA - £12. To enter as a team the cost is £10 per person with a minimum of four people per team. Runners are encouraged to raise sponsorship for The Wessex Autistic Society. Every runner raising over £30 sponsorship will receive a FREE race t-shirt, plus each finisher will receive a drink, a medal and chocolate. There will also be prizes for the fastest three male and female runners in each race, fastest team prize, spot prizes, and a veteran prize.
