Jubilee celebrations in Wimborne

Three events to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will take place in the first half of this year at the Minster Church of St Cuthburga.

The first event will be a short service which will be held on Monday, 6 February at 12noon to mark the actual date of HM The Queen’s Accession to the Throne.

This event will be followed on Sunday, 27 May by the County Diamond Jubilee Service, which will take place at 3pm. The Minster is honoured to hold this service at the request of the Lord Lieutenant of Dorset, Mr Anthony Pitt Rivers. The preacher will be the new Bishop of Salisbury, the Right Reverend Nicholas Holtam.

The third event will be a mini flower festival over the Jubilee weekend. It will run from 1-5 June. The festival will be open daily from 9.30am until 5.30pm except Sunday when it will be open from 12.30pm until 5.30pm. Admission will be free but donations will be welcomed in aid of Minster funds.

It is hoped that on Tuesday, 5 June there will be some charity stalls on the Minster Green.
