The award, of up to £1,000 for a rising sports star aged 11-17, was offered by the parish council to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games in London last year.
Joe is the National Junior Jitsu champion and is due to take part in the Jitsu International Championships in Edinburgh in 2013. He trains at the Ferndown Jitsu Club in the Heatherlands Community Centre, and also helps to train the next generation by teaching mini jitsu to 4 to 7 year olds.
The formal presentation of the award took place on 30 January, 2013, at the Ferndown Jitsu Club where members of the council and invited guests were treated to a wonderful demonstration by young people of all ages. Joe received a certificate and trophy.
