Nineteen Lanterns will adorn the malls of Bournemouth’s Castlepoint Shopping Park as part of the 6th annual Lantern Festival to celebrate the New Year.
The first of a series of dramatic Lion Dancing events will be held on Saturday 5 February from midday to 2.30pm.
Anthony Yuen, Chairperson at the Bournemouth Chinese School, hopes that as many people as possible will join them to celebrate the incoming year of the Rabbit.
"Throughout the event we will have traditional dancing and demonstrations of Tai Chi and Kung-Fu provided by local trainers," said Anthony Yuen.
Peter Matthews, General Manager at Castlepoint, was delighted to welcome the return of sixteen dancers and participants for a second year.
He said, "Last year the demonstrations attracted crowds of shoppers who paused to watch in fascination performances that we rarely have the chance to appreciate in the UK."
Other events are to be held in Poole on 12 February and at the Bishop of Winchester School on the 20 February. An exhibition will be held in conjunction with Bournemouth University at the Bournemouth Library between 1 - 27 February.
