Bob Walter MP continues to support Longham’s sub post master Graham Moore, who is determined to keep his branch open and serve his customers.
Since the closure of Stapehill and Wimborne Road Post Offices, Mr Moore has seen a big increase in parcel business as local companies choose to come to a post office where they can park outside, sometimes bringing up to 40 parcels in one visit. Bob believes that in the light of this shift in business to Longham and word that Penny’s Walk is struggling to cope with demand and accessibility, Post Office Limited should give the future of Longham Post Office a second look.
For this reason Bob, along with local councillors and action groups, will be requesting a stay of execution for this much-needed branch beyond the current closure date of 9 January, in the hope that POL will come back to the negotiating table.
“Longham still has far better access for the elderly and disabled than Penny’s Walk, where there is no on-site close proximity parking suitable for the disabled, elderly or infirm” said Bob.
“Sadly POL appeared to disregard this key point during the public consultation process.” He added.
