The switching on of Wimborne Minster’s Christmas lights by the town mayor, chairman of the chamber of trade, and BBC Radio Solent presenter and former BBC South weather girl, Alina Jenkins, will be followed by the firing of muskets by Wimborne Militia.
To avoid anyone being frightened by the gunfire, a ten minute warning will be given to enable any members of the public to leave if they wish.
The event takes place on Saturday, 28 November between 3.30 and 4.30pm and carols will be sung around the tree, led by the Minster choir and musicians from Queen Elizabeth’s School.
Please help get the festive season off to a good start by supporting this event and do give generously to the collection in aid of the mayor’s charities: the Friends of Victoria Hospital and the Priest’s House Museum and Garden.
