MP supports National Shooting Week

Last Friday, North Dorset MP, Robert Walter visited Gorcombe, the picturesque shooting and outdoor activity centre near Blandford as part of the third annual National Shooting Week.

The government-backed initiative organised by the British Shooting Sports Council saw clubs and shooting schools across the country open their doors to the general public with the aim of giving everyone the chance to have a go at the sport in a safe environment.

Target shooting is an Olympic sport open to anyone of any gender, age or ability. It is also a strong sport for Britain, one in which England won 19 medals for in the 2006 Commonwealth games. Team GB has high hopes for London 2012.

There are over 150,000 people who regularly shoot clays in the UK.

Bob said: “I enjoyed taking part on Friday, and my thanks go to Phil Meaden for organising the morning for everyone to enjoy.”
