BOURNEMOUTH & West Hampshire Water (BWHW) has been ranked as the top performing water company for service delivery by industry regulator, Ofwat.
The company achieved its best ever performance by scoring 287 points - out of a maximum 288 - in the regulator’s annual overall performance assessment.
All 21 water companies in England and Wales were assessed for their water supply and customer service with BWHW coming first.
Ofwat measured performance in a number of areas including:
• Pressure and continuity of the water supply
• Drinking water quality
• Leakage
• Dealing of customer enquiries by phone and letter
• Security of supply in terms of sufficiency of water supplies
Tony Cooke, BWHW’s Managing Director, said: ““By any standards, this is a great achievement and represents our best-ever performance.
“Our focus at all times is on customer service and I’m delighted that this has been recognised by our industry regulator.
“Customers quite rightly expect a safe and reliable water supply and that we will respond quickly and effectively to any problems they may have.
“Most of what we do is out of sight and out of mind for the very large majority of the time, but it takes continued and sustained effort by all of our staff to attain, and maintain, such good performance. This ranking is a fitting reward for all their hard work and commitment.”
BWHW supplies water to about half a million people across Dorset, West Hampshire and part of Wiltshire.
