Osteoporosis - what you need to know!

Free information event in Southampton

The National Osteoporosis Society will hold a free osteoporosis information evening in Southampton, on Tuesday, 23 March 2010 from 7pm until 9pm.

There will be presentations, a chance to browse and pick up free literature and you can find out more about the work of the National Osteoporosis Society and meet members of the local support group. There are also free refreshments! There's no need to book - just turn up.

The meeting is open to all and includes talks on:
·    What is osteoporosis?
·    How is it diagnosed and treated?
·    How can I look after my bones?
·    What can the National Osteoporosis Society do for me?

Dr Elaine Dennison from Southampton General Hospital will deliver a presentation on osteoporosis and will be available to answer your questions.

"This event is a wonderful opportunity for residents of Southampton to find out more about osteoporosis and the support that is available, both from the national charity as well as the local support group," said Fiona Rochford, National Osteoporosis Society Support Officer for the South West and Thames Valley. "We are delighted that Dr Elaine Dennison has agreed to come and speak at the event and it should be an informative, sociable and enjoyable evening."

The event will be held at the Central Baptist Church, Devonshire Road, Polygon, Southampton, SO15 2GY. Although the venue does not have dedicated parking, there is free on street parking in the area after 6pm. The nearest car parks are Grosvenor Square (multi-storey) and Amoy Street.

To find out more, call Fiona Rochford on 01256 893733.
