Local community radio presenter, Janet Latham, will take to the skies on May 26 2010.  Janet a presenter for 90.1 Hope FM will be making a parachute jump with the Red Devils, the official parachute display team of the Parachute Regiment and British Army.

The Red Devils were interviewed on Hope FM, and, as a result they offered the community radio station the rare opportunity of a free jump. Janet took up the challenge with the aim of raising funds for both Hope FM and The John Thornton Young Achievers’ Foundation, a charity which was set up to honour the life of Lt John ‘JT’ Thornton RM, from Ferndown, who was tragically killed in southern Afghanistan in 2008.

Janet says: "I remember the day that I came into work to learn that John's mum had heard the news that he had been killed in Afghanistan.  John's parents have been so courageous and brave in setting up the foundation in his name and it will help other young people to achieve their dreams. When I found that I could do something to help, I jumped at the chance – literally!  Besides, who wouldn't want to come down to earth strapped to a Red Devil?"
