Students of Filmsteps Kids Film School in Poole were celebrities for the day when they attended a premiere for the short films they have made.
The summer course aimed at 7-14 year olds gave the students a chance to plan, direct and film their own movie.
The local children dressed up for the event held at Empire Cinema, Tower Park, and were greeted by the glamorous Empirettes who guided them down the red carpet past the “paparazzi”, family and friends. Once inside the cinema the kids saw the final cuts of their films for the first time, on the big screen, before receiving a DVD copy of their film.
A highlight of their filming week was when they had a surprise visit from local stunt performer, Denise Ryan. Denise, who is currently working on the new Pirates of the Caribbean 4 movie, gave an insight into the tricks of the trade by choreographing fight moves and stunt falls with the children.
Annie East, Head Teacher said, “We were overwhelmed with the turnout at the premiere, over 120 people came to cheer on the Filmsteppers! It’s so rewarding for the staff, the children and their families to see their finished work on the big screen."
