Police focus on youngsters

Approximately 350 people attended the Football Focus beach football event on Sandbanks beach, Poole, on Sunday 11 July.

A total of 19 five-a-side teams of boys and girls took part in the event.

As well as showing off their soccer skills on the sand, the youngsters – aged between 12 and 18 – also had the opportunity to take part in DJ workshops, kick boxing, volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee and sand sculpting.

Poole Safer Neighbourhood Sergeant, Billy Bulloch said, “Football Focus is a brilliant project aimed at engaging and building bridges with the local youths by the police, youth services, Borough of Poole Leisure Services and NACRO. It assists youngsters to positively contribute to their communities, making them stronger.”

The junior tournament was won by Turlin Moor Tigers, the intermediate by Branksome and the seniors and girls’ tournaments were won by Creekmoor.
