From 26 January, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) in Wimborne are turning their attentions to cycle offences committed in the town in an attempt to eradicate the problem, raised as an issue by local residents.
Cyclists caught riding on the pavement could be issued with a £30 fixed penalty notice, and those cycling without lights will be asked to make arrangements to have them fitted in advance of a further check to be carried out, either at home or at the local police station.
PC Andy Watkins of Wimborne’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This issue is raised time and time again by the people of Wimborne. It is inconvenient for pedestrians and motorists both visiting and living in the town.”
