Positive start for Blind Club

At the annual Christmas get-together for Ringwood and Fordingbridge Club for the Blind, members, volunteers, their friends and family pulled crackers as they enjoyed their tasty meal.  There was a record turn-out of sixty-eight, and 12 excellent prizes for the diners in the raffle. All prizes having been donated by the members and volunteers.

A varied calendar of events has been arranged for the coming year with visits, cream teas, entertainers, quizzes, speakers and summer lunch.

On a sad note, the club recently lost two regular members, both in their nineties - Ted Burgess and Kath MacIntyre.  Both will be missed by all.  Kath was a well-known personality in Ringwood having run two pubs in the town before she retired at a grand age.  Owing to ill-health her last years were spent in a residential home on the Bickerley.

The club meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month in the Activities Centre of Greyfriars Community Centre, Ringwood, from 2-4pm.  Call 01425 470008 for more information.
