Around a hundred years ago, Stapehill Post Office opened along a mud track to serve the small, rural community on the outskirts of Ferndown. Since then it has not only provided a vital postal and communication service, but also a focal point for local people.
On 29 October, 2008 as part of the sweeping closures made by the Post Office throughout the country, the sub post office at Stapehill was obliged to close its doors for the very last time.
Look out in Town & Village magazine in December for an exclusive on Stapehill’s last day when its most loyal customer arrived to say goodbye to postmaster, Howard Cook and his wife, Diane.
