Public appeal to help find missing Bournemouth man

Police in Bournemouth are appealing for public help in finding a vulnerable man who has gone missing from his home in Grosvenor Gardens, Boscombe.

Officers have launched a major search for Neil Egerton Marlow –  aged 52  -  who was said to be depressed and on medication.  He was reported missing to Dorset Police at 3.57pm, Tuesday 3 March 2009.

Coastguards and volunteers from the Dorset Search and Rescue group have been assisting in the search.

Neighbours last saw Mr Marlow at lunchtime on 1 March 2009 and his sudden disappearance is said to be very much out of character.

Officers - including police with specialist sniffer dogs - have been searching the seafront promenade and cliffs between Bournemouth Pier and Sandbanks.

Mr Marlow is described as white, five feet six inches tall, of slim build and with longish grey hair with a full beard and moustache.  He has three tattoos - one a Welsh dragon, the second a lion and the third consists of the name 'Bob Marley'.

Inspector Wayne Nock, of Bournemouth and Poole police, said: "We are growing increasingly concerned for the safety and welfare of Mr Marlow who has no family locally.

"I would appeal to anyone who has seen Mr Marlow since he went missing sometime after Sunday lunchtime to contact Dorset Police in confidence as soon as possible.

"To Mr Marlow, I would say please come home and contact the police because people are very worried about you and they need to know that you are safe and well," explained Inspector Nock.

Police have carried out house-to-house enquiries in the area of Mr Marlow's Boscombe flat.

They have also been making checks with hospitals across Dorset in case he has been admitted.

Anyone who sees Mr Marlow should immediately contact Dorset Police by dialling 999 while anyone who has seen him since he went missing should contact the force in confidence by dialling 01202 222 222.
