Following a successful race last year, the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) played host to a ‘Race to the Bill’ classic triathlon organised by Bustinskin.com on Sunday.
Little wind and no rain, followed by glorious sunshine meant that the spectators at WPNSA were in for a treat along with those slugging it out along the fantastic course set out by race director Mark Steen.
Nick Buis came 1st with a time of 2:02:09 followed closely by local BustinSkin triathlete Niall Laming 2:04:15, in 3rd place was Dan Waites who was stepping in to his father’s place due to injury 2:11:10
First home for the ladies was Tracey Cook 2:21:08, 2nd spot went to Sarah Chaloner 2:26:39 and 3rd place Becki Toone, 2:30:24.
Their prizes included free entry in to next year’s event to defend their titles.
Chris Knight, Business Manager at WPNSA, commented “We were delighted to welcome the competitors of the Bustinskin Triathlon to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy for the second year in a row. The event has doubled in size from 2008 and it was a fantastic day for all those involved. We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future.”
Mark Steen, Race Director of BustinSkin applauded the facility: “We are really lucky to have the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy as one of our main venues; the facilities here are world class, there is never a problem with parking, shower and changing rooms can accommodate many competitors, the guys on the water really know how to mark an exact 1500m course, which is important when you have a 40k bike and a 10k run to do after the swim!”
Chris Whale, National Sales Director for swim sponsors Aqua Sphere said he could only see the event growing in strength.
