Record rugby weekend

The annual Bournemouth Sevens Festival, held over the bank holiday at the end of May, announced record crowds of 20,000 people at the world-renowned sport and music event.

Having grown significantly since the first event in 2008, the festival now hosts the largest rugby and netball festival in the world, with 156 rugby sevens teams and 96 netball teams competing.

Live bands and DJs entertained the crowds all weekend, and Radio 1’s, DJ Spoony also made an appearance in the exclusive VIP Arena.

Other entertainment included a stunt parachute display, video diary room, a pitch side Jacuzzi, party bus, fancy dress, big screen TV and Rock-e-oke.
