Ringwood’s diabolical fun
The grand championships of the Hampshire diabolo-throwing contest were held this week in the Furlong in Ringwood.
Expert diabolo thrower Mark Jay held workshops for dozens of children, and taught the kids how to perform tricks such as ‘stick grinds,’ ‘whip catchers’ and ‘elevators.’
After a few hours of practising, the children lined up to be judged by Mark, who then awarded a £20 voucher to the winner, and yo-yos to the two runners up.
"I have been doing this for a few years now, but some of these youngsters have only just started,” said Mark. “Nevertheless, they were amazingly proficient, and I was really surprised at some of the young talent.”
